Tuesday marked the continuation of the Ivory Coast football team’s celebrations following their victory in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Alassane Ouattara, the president of state, hosted a reception at the Presidential Palace for players, coaches, and officials.
Ouattara awarded medals to the winning Elephants, the 2023 African champions, and gave each player on the team a cash gift.

Coaches and players were named Chevalier and officers in the nation’s National Order of Merit, while team executives received the title of Commander.
The president wanted to express his gratitude and, more importantly, his belief in this team, which has shown courage and resiliency throughout the African Cup of Nations.
Early in the campaign, it didn’t appear like the hosts would make it to the final, but they battled back to defeat Nigeria 2-1 on Sunday.
